    The Dead Thing

The Dead Thing is a great independent horror drama film I got to catch at the Music Box Theatre in 35mm. It’s directed by Elric Kane with a script co-written by Kane and Webb Wilcoxen. It stars Blu Hunt and Ben Smith-Petersen.

The film follows “A woman who is charmed by a barista on a blind date, but after he disappears, she becomes determined to find out why.” And that is a very simple description of where this film goes.

I saw this at the Chicago premiere at the Music Box theater and Oz Perkins gave a discussion afterwards.

I really enjoyed this, it was a simple fun time at the movies with some really creative kills. There’s also some fun cameos in here. Great opening scene. I’m really starting to like Theo James, I wanna see him in more especially after this and the White Lotus. I definitely recommend this if you want an absurd, campy, and straight up fun time at the movies.

I will give this film a full review upon a rewatch during its full release.

    I'm Still Here

Wow. I’m Still Here might end up being the film of 2024 cinema for me. I think it’s a tie between this, Nickel Boys, and The Brutalist for my top spot. But god I wouldn’t be amiss to mention that this film could inch its way to the top spot. Again I don’t like rating/ranking films like that, I don’t believe art should be measured in such ways, but I just had to mention this film might be one of my…
