    It’s not actually that long but it feels about a half an hour too long and is somehow not actually that horny after all. Good enough, though far more interesting when it strays away from its source material. A bit too reliant on jump scares for my taste, and Skarsgård doesn’t quite do it for me. But it’s atmospheric, deliciously gothic, and well worth a watch even if it doesn’t quite pull off the allegory it’s reaching for.

Having watched the movie, it’s difficult to imagine that this wasn’t the way the musical was always meant to be.
