  The cinematography carries the spirit, with oozing gothic atmosphere. It honors the original’s essence, capturing that creeping dread, but somewhere along the way, it feels like it’s missing the sharpness to really sink its teeth in (pun intended).

  It’s a slow burn that leans more on the moody unease, leaving you with the feeling that it’s all style, but just a little short on substance. Zoning out is to be expected.
