Story Ave 2023
Starts strong but the script let's it down by doubling down on cliches (e.g. a scene of an older character coughing--yes, they are hiding a life-threatening illness). Visuals have a lovely texture and the acting is strong, but the way the script relies on cliche makes it feel long a long short film. It also unfortunately aligns graffiti/street art with a very specific kind of "troubled street kid" lifestyle and plays with what it means to be authentic but doesn't really do anything interesting with it.

As a big fan of Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, I really looked forward to seeing Ceylan's earlier work.
Climates is a realistically and disheartening look at the end of a relationship where two people have irreconcilable differences.
