The Act of Seeing with One's Own Eyes 1972
Brakhage is one of my favourite artists in how he challenges the form. The silence of this film is haunting, there’s no value to ascribe these scenes. The cold detachment of the camera, the cold contact of the slab. Death is confronted plainly as bodies become transformed and recontextualized: the person becomes the object, the object becomes the pieces.
It feels unfair to give this a star rating but it’s who I am as a person. I wonder who these people were.
