  He should have been a theology professor...

  In all seriousness the first half was extremely compelling: the performances were good, the mystery was intriguing, I wanted to know more. But the movie loses itself in the second half where I feel like it just falls into very typical tropes, overexplains everything when there is absolutely no need, and finishes on a very very lukewarm take. I don't know if it is supposed to be meta, it doesn't work for me.
  The note really is just because I was enjoying myself during the first part, I really thought the movie was good at that point.
