Grave of the Fireflies 1988
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
If you plan on watching this movie, be prepared for some of the most gut-wrenching scenes you will ever watch. I certainly bawled my eyes out. It portrays the horrors of war through the experiences of innocent children who have done nothing to deserve the life that they did. And Setsuko, a literal ray of hope. Seeing her actions always brought a smile to my face. (SPOILER AHEAD) Watching flies swarm over her was too much for my heart to bear.

Something I really appreciate about this film, is
1) the animosity of the ending
and
2) how the story unravels itself, letting the viewer in on the works little by littleMamoru Hosoda truly outdid himself with The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.
