My second Jean-Luc Godard after Breathless, and I liked this one a lot better! The characters were actually interesting here and the themes were much more up my alley. It's also the first time I saw Anna Karina and I really liked her. Intrigued to watch more from her now.

Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! 1989
A little less lighthearted fun than most other Pedro Almodóvar films that came before, but I liked the tackling of more serious issues. Given the subject matter it was still surprisingly funny, and the production design and color palette scream Pedro. A lot of questionable things happen here, but I enjoyed watching it.
Antonio Banderas is so disgusting and so attractive at the same time it doesn't seem humanly possible.

Seven Winters in Tehran 2023
"How can a man understand the devastated soul of a woman after rape? How can a man understand the shocked mind and body of a woman while she is caught in the hands of an aroused man? The laws of rape and self-defense are written by men."
Absolutely devastating and heartcrushing, but so important. Also very relevant in the days of the Iranian revolution. I admire this family so much for turning their grief and anger into activism.
