Interstellar 2014
I vividly remember the first time I watched this movie on my iPad in the dorm room my freshman year of college. And as the credits rolled on the little iPad screen I knew that had just found my favorite movie of all time. Six years later, I finally got to experience this beauty in all of its IMAX glory, and what an unbelievable and unforgettable experience that was.

That’s what I’m fucking talking about baby.
Car chases down dirt roads and a kitted Dodge Ram that shoots rockets. Pure Americana on the soundtrack and a rodeo. Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones. A little science sprinkled in and a tornado literally on fire. Actively caught myself gripping the armrest of the chair on three occasions.
To me, that’s cinema.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes 2023
I’m a firm believer that if a movie has a good soundtrack then you have a good movie. This stands true here, as I didn’t know Rachel Zegler had pipes like that. The music rocks and she can flat out sing. As for the movie itself, and as with all the Hunger Games films, the world building goes crazy in all the best ways possible. The only real problem with this movie is the pacing of the last half of the last act. The ending just feels off, but besides that this is a solid film all around.
