These are the films I grew up watching with my dad and that I still watch with him now. My brother and my mam get kind of bored but we watch Coach Carter, Remember the Titans and Moneyball with an unlimited sense of fascination, viewing something that, for a while, represents what we experience in every living moment. This is actually an incredibly disturbing film - the west at its worst. The characters are neither good or bad, just scummy and patronising and Clint Eastwood is as much of an enigma as ever. The western elements were class, the gun fighting and man against the rest sentiment being the films highlight but the female representation was absolutely fucking awful. I guess that was mostly because of what this was, a representation of really scummy characters no holding back. Not his best but a decent picture bar it’s brutal misogyny.

I would say this is easily Robert Pattison at his best - although tbh what is there to compete with? A moody paedophilic vampire and…
