Never seen a funeral film quite like this. Steeped in the intersection of trauma and customs. Not quite magical realism, but there’s an uncanniness to it that was really striking and unsettling at times

Black Bag 2025
Yes yes yes YES
Michael Fassbender’s “spy that’s 10000% devoted to his girlfriend/wife” niche is quite a good look on him (why I also enjoyed The Agency). But really, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole cast here (okay I loooooved Marisa Abela, so I really need to go ahead and start Industry). Koepp keeping the world small and focused makes the movie all the more engaging. Also really obsessed with the lighting here (that first dinner!!!!). Could have immediately rewatched it. And yes, this is absolutely couple goals 😂

See How They Run 2022
Stylish, right amount of meta, and an absolutely PERFECT performance from my queen Saoirse. Very fun time!

Monster 2023
King Kore-eda continues his reign as one of the most empathetic and humanist directors working today. This heart wrenching and beautiful triptych cuts deep with its tale of bullying, rumors, misunderstandings, abuse, and the monsters that lie within us. There are so many performances here that get to me, especially as the story develops and you see the different angles. But my goodness, I cannot get enough of the Kore-eda / Ando Sakura pairing. They are a match made in Director/Actor pairing heaven. Ando once again just fucking kills it. Sakamoto (RIP) and his score is so subtle, so gentle, so moving.
