    The Super Mario Bros. Movie

It’s a really good time for anyone who grew up with (or still plays) the games. I have to commend the movie for its commitment to accuracy visually and audibly, it’s very true to the games in that sense. I had a stupid grin on my face for large portions of the movie and I thought every single Easter egg was tasteful. It Follows

    ★★★★

It Follows elicits a persistent feeling of uneasiness, anxiety and paranoia. The concept of the ‘it’ in It Follows leaves a lingering since of dread. It’s not about a particular scene, gore or imagery, it’s just a suffocating idea that provides the perfect amount of tension throughout the runtime. It’s so simple, but so effective.

As the film went on, the effectiveness of the horror element waned a bit for me. It becomes more tangible and less frightening towards the end… but that’s probably a good thing!

Robert Pattinson as Batman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwonan, and essentially the entire cast is perfect.…

    The Terminator

    ★★★★

There’s no doubt certain elements of the Terminator are dated, but this quality works to remind us how ahead of its time it was. Truthfully, the Terminator feels more impressive than the bulk today’s best sci-if horror. While it’s outshined by it’s sequel, the Terminator is a damn classic for a reason.
