My initial review covered this pretty well, but a couple of quick notes:
-I was oddly moved by the very brief, wordless scene with the Black woman who throws the ball back into play. It's only like ten seconds of a movie that's over two hours but it says so much, both in an obvious and less-than-obvious way, and it's just perfectly done and a huge acknowledgment of this whole other level of oppression that doesn't feel contrived.

Mel Gibson takes the last 15 minutes of Braveheart, strips it of all the character building and stretches into two hours, successfully winning the award for most self-righteous film ever made. There's even a scene that is almost exactly the same as the end of Braveheart, when Jesus makes eye contact with Satan walking in slow motion through the crowd as he is being tortured. Satan is even walking the same direction as Murron does in Braveheart!
