Definitely a movie with a great rewatch experience, noticed so many more things. This time I noticed the soundtrack so much more. It is, against all odds, incredibly soothing amidst all the grief and disturbing events. It’s dually Hårga’s surface level perfection upon their arrival which makes it so attractive and luring but also the eventual deeper comfort and escape from grief that leads to assimilation into the cult.

Extremely corny, cringey dialogue, clearly made for the male audience (skilled protagonist effortlessly defeats his enemies and somehow pulls the docile and insanely attractive girl) yuck I couldn’t finish it. Reminds me of bad ass boys (derogatory) in middle school who thought they were so edgy and different but ur really just an annoying piece of shit. Important message delivered in a subpar way imo

A24 always kills cinematography and fantasy elements. It was a very intentional hero’s journey structure, I felt like I was being read a Brothers Grimm fairy tale especially with all the medieval art, gothic font, and folklore.
But also seemed kinda pointless?? The situation could’ve been very avoidable??? He could’ve just said no to the challenge or… not strike him that way?? And I don’t get the alternate endings or the overall point of the movie. Human nature?? He’s selfish prideful shameful lustful?!
Could’ve been a 1.5 hr movie. So much happened but nothing happened at the same time.

Unbelievable. Watched ultra high in IMAX, literally felt like I was on Arrakis. On the edge of my seat with balled fists. Have rewatched it 4 times. Incredible. Spectacular. Top 3 of all time.
