The Zone of Interest 2023
There was a TON of interesting artistic and structural moments in this film but I kept coming back to -- what are we doing here? What are we saying that isn't absolutely gratuitous? If the cinematography and stylistic choices require the viewer to be familiar with the milieu to understand the negative narrative space and how devastating it is....is this film saying anything new or just is it just having us experience the trauma again?
