  A tour de force. 

  20 min in, I was questioning the entire approach. By the final act, I was blown away. 

  I was lucky enough to catch a screening in NYC followed by a Q&A with RaMell Ross, Joslyn Barnes and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. When RaMell described the concept of leading with image instead of leading with narrative, you could hear a collective lightbulb moment of awe consume the crowd. He’s a brilliant filmmaker who approached this story (and book/source material)…

  entirely captivating film start to finish. actually couldn’t believe 2.5 hours had passed.

  blown away by the writing and the performances alike. Milo in particular delivered a superstar level performance for a 14 year old in a heavy, heavy role.
