The main thing making it feel off, to me, is the impossible task of Making Dune in The 2020s. The source material is very strongly tied to when it was written in the 1960s, and trying to make an adaptation somewhat updated to our current sensibilities and still recognizable as dune is... difficult, I'd imagine

God awful movie for people who are afraid of nature and women's sexuality. Neither of these concepts intrinsically scare me, so it's just boring while it jacks off to its own heavy handed symbolism. It's a shame Willem Dafoe's talents were wasted on such a flat and unemotional character -- I see what they were going for, the archetypal cold distant husband, but watching such a good actor just stand there for the whole runtime felt like watching orcas floating…

Unimpressive, bog standard horror flick. Weirdly ableist, sexual violence not handled with any grace, dubious acting etc..
