The Cabin in the Woods 2011
I loved this movie. I am a big fan of shameless, scare-fest style horror movies (like the Descent) and also of more artsy horror films that pay homage to the culture of the supernatural (like Let the Right One In.)
This movie manages to present us many elements of a cheesy scary movie while taking them apart and exposing their ridiculousness, but always in good fun. Great acting, fantastic concept and brilliant execution.

Seven Samurai 1954
Great movie, I especially liked the integration of natural elements, such as rain and fields of flowers, into different scenes. Kurosawa pioneered many technical elements in what is considered to be the first action movie.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Beautifully filmed and with expert acting, I particularly enjoyed the many long takes in the film and the sustained excitement in spite of the "box" format. The conclusion wasn't 100% satisfying to me, but obviously it is a classic.
