Took a group of kids to see this for my son’s birthday…it was miserable. I can’t exactly explain why I hated this movie, I think the art style is kinda neat and there’s a good bit of comedic bits, but it just felt so slow. I think it could’ve been a better series to take it in small chunks, but I’m not sure how an episode could be split up plot wise (though I don’t think they really cared about that).

I mean it’s a kids movie and the kids liked it, though that bar is low, but it’s definitely no Pixar or Bluey.

Great directorial debut from Kendrick. Strong tone and very tense even when you know the outcome.

The “men are dumb, women are smart, the boys club won’t listen to women” theme was a bit over the top. I understand exaggeration is often used to highlight a concept, just felt similar to Ocean’s 8. Not to take away from the true horrors that the women felt and continue to deal with, just think they could’ve highlighted his ways of weaseling out…

I umm...I really don't know what to say about this, particularly without giving spoilers or setting more expectations than I had going into it. Also because I'm kinda at a loss for words.

I'm not giving it 5 stars because I think it's a flawlessly, perfectly executed film, but I was so surprisingly overwhelmed by the end of this movie. I know the rating is low for whatever reason, but this was a solid film for creepy scenes, beauty, unique ending, and (most importantly) meaning.

This is up there with Pan's Labyrinth, The Orphanage, and A Quiet Place.
