Although I have never seen the original, The Crazies was on my watchlist for a long time. I'm glad I finally got to it because I really enjoyed myself watching everything go down. I think viewing the story through the townspeople was a good idea because you can feel the hopelessness of it all when everything goes wrong.
A similar film from a military perspective would be a whole different story, an interesting one though. Throwing a bomb on a village in your own country can't be an easy choice to make.
