It's a shame that social importance doesn't make a good movie, because this is clearly a very important film.
Unfortunately, it's also pretty bad. The scripting, editing and directing are all over the place, with the occasional artful touch outnumbered by a range of bizarre, unnecessary or overwrought tropes and techniques.
