The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

I'm not the biggest Looney Tunes guy, but the premise seemed interesting enough. I thought it would just be 90 minutes of gags and jokes, but I ended up being surprised multiple times by genuine moments, subtle setups, and a plot twist that I did not see coming at all.

I cannot believe that Warner Brothers not only had no faith in this movie, but also sold it to a company I never even heard of before that clearly did…

You can tell that this was made after Curse of the Were-Rabbit with how good the animation looks compared to the previous short films. I thought the villain was entertaining and the action setpiece at the end was fun.

I can't believe that I've only now realized that Denis Villeneuve is one of my favorite directors. Blade Runner 2049, Prisoners, Dune, and this film are all incredible. Will definitely go see all of his future films on the big screen from now on. Hope he gets nominated for this at the 2025 Oscars.

Though, I think that the one thing holding back both parts of Denis Villeneuve's Dune is that he's too afraid of making the films 'too long'…

I have yet to give any film that released this year a full five stars, but I think I'm finally ready.

The Boy and the Heron/How Do You Live? is an utterly profound masterpiece. Well worth the wait.

Perhaps there's still enough time for Hayao Miyazaki to add another block to his tower, but this would still be a fitting send-off.
