Note to self - not a rewatch for future international women’s days. The first time I saw this was rented on a dvd from the Petersfield library, now it makes a perfect drinking game. To the chagrin of my film snobbery I am still gripped by this treasure hunting wonder of a film. Thanks nick cage

Ah yes, I’d forgotten what A24 films are like… I’d describe this as ambitious. I was expecting the gentle subtlety of CMBYM, and it was a bit on the nose for me, I would have liked it in book form I’m sure, and at times it felt like a play, but the flat set design and harsh themes didn’t do it for me as a film. Daniel Craig clearly had a blast though and Drew is a mermaid of a man.
