The real life time gap between films is so apparent, this film has all the authenticity of the first but you can feel the decade that has passed for the two main characters. They've had 9 years of time to think about what was said and the Linklater had 9 years to think how a life lived affect what would/could be said.

the first half, is an albeit slow but interesting exploration into how “charity” and “sympathy” from the ruling class function.
Then at this point everyone can see the twist coming, but somehow the scriptwriter thought we cant?? and it switches into an hour of shocking scenes which, to their credit, succeed in making the audience feel a large variety of emotions (often disgust) quite deeply. Sadly the themes become quite muddled and are often cloaked in unsubtle symbolism. The film has undeniably excellent cinematography throughout which will hopefully be more memorable than the eye rolling twist reveal at the end.Translated from by
