this could have easily been done in 8 or 9 episodes instead of 18. David lynch pretentiousness kinda ruined what could have been amazing. started off interesting, then tanked until the last 5 maybe 6 episodes where it got interesting again, and the whole cooper thing should not have lasted anywhere near as long as it did. some stupid useless scenes, and many mini storylines that were dull and completely irrelevant. the last episode wasn’t great either and also wasted…

Charlie don’t surf.
genuinely one of the best cinematic experiences ever. i would like to see the theatrical version as it keeps tighter to the plot, but this was still amazing. the dedication to make this film totally paid off, with matting sheen delivering one of the best performances in a war film. revolutionary for 1979, and the boundaries pushed make this film remarkable. with the reportedly 1,000,000 feet of film produced, the editing was amazing. the french plantation scene was obviously an added bit which is why i would like to see the original as well. and the cinematography is just incredible .
