A slow burner about an important subject regarding how young women were mistreated not heard by a society which was not that long ago

Murphy plays an understated role but with powerful presence and facial emotions and grimaces. Rural Ireland setting is well captured from the pubs to the convent to the coalman

Excellent film -well paced - dramatic - a few add - ons which perhaps distracted from the narrative - ie the relationships between him and the two women in his life - seemed to lack any directorial sincerity or commitment

Having said that the film was one of Nolan's more accessible and the tone / direction and music accompaniment was spot on. Special performances by Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey junior

Story is an important one which needed to be referenced in this format and good historical references and mood

Interesting film - I do like those American type road movies and this one captures a lot of the themes that I can relate to - the loner - the outsider - the enigma - played well by the lead. Very good supporting performances in particular from Ron Perlman and Albert Brooks
Liked the sound track and soime of the car scenes good

AB bit over violent in certain scenes

Thoroughly enjoyable - strong central performances as well as a splendid support cast. Funny and emotional - captures the area and its surrounds reasonably well - also there is a sense of observation on how the area has changed / is changing .
At times it lags a bit in being perhaps too whimsical only to bounce back with strong emotions /language and a sense of belonging
