in conversation with elvis 2022, made me think that a more balanced depiction would’ve done a disservice to both individuals’ stories. priscilla lets us experience the relationship as she did, to feel her loneliness, the instability of her tedious boredom punctuated by moments of thrill and fear, the frustration of rarely being let into his mind enough to really understand it. the movie’s power is in showing their relationship from the first person, just as, ultimately, relationships can only be experienced
