Wild Strawberries 1957
A story of aging, loneliness, regret, generational family trauma, acceptance, and reconciliation. This was a slower paced character study of Dr Borg looking back at his life and contrasting it with his present circumstances during a long car ride with some bright personalities. Very intentional framing.

This film needed so much more Mrs. Danvers and Mrs. de Winter interaction. For a book that so much more intensely focused on their relationship (or lack thereof), I felt that there was only really one scene at the window that touched that level of psychological fuckery. Book Maxim was much more on the periphery. As far as Hitchcock films go, this one just didn’t thrill me that much.

Intermezzo 1936
Criterion Challenge 2025 film #2: For some reason, this is tagged as a romance film, when it certainly is not. It’s a film about a musician having a midlife crisis and then everything turning out fine in the end for him. Boring, frankly.
Ingrid Bergman was great, though!
