The cast was bloated and lowered the stakes as they’ve been seen in so many IPs like this already. The story was full of holes and the direction was inconsistent.

Tonally a bit of a mess. Elements of Bong Joon Ho’s work throughout, but they didn’t mix well with each other. It uses key plot points from the book but travels between them differently and somewhat incoherently. I still appreciated what it was trying to do and the production design was good.

The Creator 2023
Creatively stunning though both it’s production design and cinematography - combined with its world building it was a truly immersive experience. The soundtrack and score worked sufficiently for most of the film, but I had hoped that it would have been used to greater effect and packed more of a ‘zimmer’ feel than it did. Tonally I wanted it to go further. It was clear that the original cut of the film was much longer as certain elements of the plot felt quite surface level and the chapters didn’t smoothly transition into each other. A directors cut may be what this needs!
