    Boring, it is, and clearly not intended to shake the foundations of Christian dogma; in that sense, the film is at least 5-10 years behind its time. So reluctant are the provocative moments that they become overshadowed by obvious, but at least relevant, pandemic echoes.

    While the focus is on inner worlds and contradictions, it is distributed in a rather unstable, repetitive, and indistinct manner.

    I didn’t expect that Serebrennikov, retaining his pretentious spirit, would screw himself into the state of a maximalist schoolboy. All these absolutely empty editing bends, which are needed only for people to talk about technique, and these utterly not subtle surreal semi-metaphors fill out only the form. 

    Background winks and other details like cameos find themselves at the pinnacle of vulgarity. And even when, it would seem, the film has a chance, as if out of spite it is completely…
