About as subtle as a slap to the face. But subtlety isn’t the goal if you’re slapping someone.

This film sets out to be a fun, kooky romp and absolutely succeeds at that. Truly “little weirdo” personified in film form. A bit predictable at times, a few shallow aspects, but overall a really enjoyable experience.

Bong Joon-ho and Robert Pattinson are such a perfect pairing, they really match each others’ freak.

Definitely has some really strong positive qualities. Akeem (Eddie Murphy) was a surprisingly wholesome character who is hard not to adore. The music is fantastic. Some great performances from the supporting cast. Some good laughs.

Also has some things I really didn't like. The first third of the movie was a bit of a slog, and not much happened in the middle third. The first half has way too many scenes just felt like skits they wrote, then reverse engineered…

This film does so much with so little. Pattinson and Dafoe feed off each other, reaching a manic frenzy together that might be one of the greatest tag-team performances ever (especially when considering this film is 99% just them).

When analyzing media, there's really no right answer. The way we interpret pieces are informed by our wholly unique life experiences. No brushstroke means the exact same thing to two people. The Lighthouse is a deeply allegorical film, each person walking…

This is some top tier character writing 🤌🤌 all the main cast are so well realized. The performances all around are excellent, but my lord, Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones suplex the rest of the cast with how great they are. It’s like if you go to Thanksgiving and spend all day making a really great pie. Like, truly the best thing you’ve ever made. You slaved away over it all morning, it’s all you’ve been able to think about…
