Neo Tokyo's about to explode and so is your mind after watching this film.
Gorgeous animation, a titanic atomic explosion, biker gangs, battery-powered laser guns, the cyberpunk influenced setting of a dystopian Neo-Tokyo, that one massive teddy bear, Tetsuo's horrific gargantuan abomination of a transformation, sheer pressure from the inevitably impending power that is Akira. What more could you ask for? The setting is perfect. The action is unmatched. The story is impeccable. Akira is the gold standard of Japanese animation. You will not regret watching this film, even if you aren't a fan of anime.

Oldboy 2003
This film is absolutely insane. Oldboy (2003) has one of the best (albeit disturbing) twists in a movie I've ever seen. With a hooking opening sequence, the progressive build-up of tension, multiple layers of mystery, and various beautifully executed action-packed scenarios, this movie had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
