In the Mood for Love 2000
A review from one of Kar-wai’s other films states: themes of time, longing, dislocation, and the restless search for human connection. This applies here as well, as in many of his films, Kar-wai seems to have this sense of deep-rooted yearning for a love that’s been lost or passed by. A shared betrayal between two people who grapple with the passage of time and a longing neither can fulfill to each other. This film made me feel things that sat deep in my gut, Yumeji’s theme is going to haunt me.
