Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace 1999
Despite it's obvious shortcomings, odd dialogue, acting and questionable stereotypes, this film leaves more of a cinematic legacy than any of the modern sequels. The podrace scene is one of the best action sequences ever put to film, and dual of the fates always stirs something in me (and most people I'd claim). It's easy to lampoon, but it's a wholly original piece of science fiction. George Lucas made what he wanted, and love it or hate it, by 1999 he'd earned that right.
