I don’t think Batman has ever or will ever be as cool as he is in this movie again

In Bruges remains one of my favourite screenplays ever and one more viewing doesn’t change that. It features fantastic performances in a great ensemble, no more impressive than Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson in the leading roles, not to forget Ralph Fiennes memorable performance as Harry.

One thing I also enjoyed on a second viewing is just how instantly recognisable the music is with it’s great central theme. The callbacks and foreshadowing is perfect throughout, and it once again reminded me how big of a fan I am of Martin McDonagh. I can’t wait till he releases another film.

    It does make me wonder…

How do you even rate something like this?

Don’t get me wrong, it was nice to return to the world of Twin Peaks and flesh out the movie slightly, but this on its own is quite frankly a bizarre experience. It’s definitely not bad by any means, but is not a cohesive story and is frankly quite awkward, which I know it by design as it is just scenes that were cut, the majority of which were rightly left out of…

I am so glad that Bong Joon Ho was able to use his post Parasite (and Oscar-sweeping) success to make something this original and different with such a wide release. Unfortunately, after a strong first act it never quite recovered and felt overly long, slightly dull and predictable once we passed that point. Like many others, I would argue this definitely peaks with a dinner scene which is hilarious and extremely engaging near the end of the first hour. On the…
