Dune: Part Two 2024
First time watching this at home, and this is a film that definitely holds up. Obviously would prefer watching it on an IMAX screen, but it can safely be said that Dune: Part Two remains a crowning achievement in sci-fi storytelling, ultimately blowing that subpar first instalment completely out of the water, and setting an impossibly high bar for the final chapter of this epic saga (Dune: Part One notwithstanding).

Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2011
I didn’t realise that I had already rated this film. Stupid that I had it on three stars since it’s a clear four. It’s a pretty great recipe for how to reboot a dormant franchise. The visuals still hold up very well and I thought the attention paid to non-dialogue sequences was very effective. The third act battle through the streets of San Francisco and onto the Golden Gate Bridge was thrilling. The apes using makeshift weapons out of street…
