  Mindbending style. I watched this movie with a lowgrade fever and it honestly ended up being pretty complementary to that. I’m not too familiar with “picaresque” as a style or genre but the film certainly is a fantastic introduction to it. This film is shot absolutely beautifully. The lighting and everyone’s complexions were just so satisfying to look at. I found myself at the end of the movie rewinding back to earlier parts just to break down the surrealist plot…

  I mean from a production aspect alone this film is remarkable. Definition of spectacle. Great casting all around. The tender moments were definitely executed well along with the big ones. I do feel like the vocal mixes on the singers were a little too muddy at times. I also had kind of an issue pacing-wise with the plot with how quickly the Wizard becomes an antagonist. For the first 80% of this movie it’s established that Elphaba has been waiting…

  Yeah this movie’s awesome. Cleverly written and shot. Surprisingly poignant and thoughtful. Super relatable depictions of the party/club life. I was having a blast the entire time. I wanna be friends with all those people.

  Very smart film. Couldn’t tell where it was going yet I managed to stay in the moment with the characters the whole time. They all handled love and stress very truthfully and I was impressed by the connections they built. The Hallelujah at the end cracked me tf up. Like, do we really need that song’s chorus to be reprised 18 times???
