What I wouldn’t give for a full-length movie of this! This short was soaked in eerie, gothic atmosphere, i’s set in a very interesting time period for a horror movie (historical horror needs more exploration anyway) and the creature design was just.. chef’s kiss. Amazing work!

Rooting for the shark because the characters were mindblowingly dumb.
Shark seems agitated? Let’s throw a spear at her!
My girlfriend seems panicky and wants me to come out of the water? Let’s untie the lifeline!
There is a seven-metre-long shark somehow swimming in a river? Let’s dive right in, and blame the person warning you not to for putting you in danger!
Jeeeesus christ. At least the ending was awesome.

If they’d replaced some of the characters with blow-up dolls it’d have produced more lively conversations than this. Best acting was a cop who was lovingly gazing into the microwave, watching his food getting warmed up. Most certainly more exciting than watching this movie.

    ★★★★

You know, for all those who said this movie is boring and lacks punch: I watched this with my friend and she was pretty quiet, but at the end she said Simon’s behavior felt very familiar, it was like watching her previous relationship with her ex on the big screen.

That definitely felt like a punch, in my stomach.

I hope this movie does for a lot of other people what it did for my friend, and for me.
