This is a very down-to-earth representation of a toxic relationship between an adult and a young adult, where things can turn sour quickly because of the power dynamic the adult has over the young adult. The last scene where Petra "explodes" is what happens to narcissistic people when they lose their power over someone, in this case after some sort of breakup.
