Really liked how each scene was perfectly paced - neither too fast nor too slow. Most fights were gratifying but the final one wasn’t as spectacular as I had hoped.

Is this supposed to be me? Is this how others like me see ourselves? I feel violated in such a way that I feel neither interested in embracing nor interrogating.
Also the purpose of each scene felt as transparent as the next, leaving no room for surprise or delight.
And those were definitely neither Taiwanese accents nor Mandarin dialogue written by a native speaker…though perhaps that is the point.
Regardless, this did not live up to my expectations. Perhaps if I had actually grown up in America, I would feel differently. But alas.
