They took a premise that had the (negative) potential to be Hangover-levels of campy and “fun” and gave it a soul that made it feel so intimately organic, both visually and in its performances. It’s funny when it needs to be (and even when it doesn’t), grounded to its core, and downright devastating at times. Everyone made their characters’ respective cliches feel less so but Mikey Madison absolutely blew it out of the water. The ending broke my heart, but the chaos had to end somewhere. Palme d’Eserved
