Dinosaur 2000
I can see why I loved this film as a 4 year old: not because I particularly loved dinosaurs but because Aladar is such a hero. He basically invents the concept of looking out for the vulnerable and spends the whole movie looking after 2 old ladies and their dog. We receive no context about why he's like this but he gets the girl so the subtext is clear. I forgot the children's movies can get away with basic plots filled with a stressful amount of peril. I was right, the Mufasa movie's plot is similar to this.

I feel so to rate it this low but I simply found it too boring. I just found the character relationships didn't give me much to care about and there were no funny moments. I also just don't get why the world needed this second film adaptation of a book written in the 60s of a colonialist rich white boy who the natives worship, when their are so many more recent sci-fi books with diverse and interesting stories that could be told. I guess money and nostalgia always win.
