Windows on the World 2019
the direction was nice a lot of the time but the movie overall suffered from meandering indie movie curse. the writers definitely had Something to say about immigrant workers and xenophobia post 9/11 but were not confident in their messaging. ryan guzman was enjoyable to watch but was unfortunately miscast. the movie really wants to nail home fernando’s “otherness” and ryan is simply too white passing to pull it off (his mexican accent was also just. not how he speaks and you can tell.) unnecessary love plot line with underdeveloped love interest. very good, interestingly directed scene in the third act.
