Notting Hill 1999
Hugh carries the whole thing for me. (And Spike gets some credit too.) But the writing and Julia Roberts are no good. Even though she plays an actor in this, her acting is bad. Her character has zero personality. A dinner plate could have played this role. The use of music is aggravating and cheesy. I still watched it, because Hugh.

What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? 1962
Incredible, iconic, and genuinely disturbing. The horrors of show biz and child actors and what it can do to people. Rivalry for attention between two women. And played by Betty Davis and Joan Crawford, later in their careers - really bold moves for both of them. But especially for Betty Davis to play the “ugly” and “crazy” one who is fixated of trying to revive the attention she got in her youth - that takes courage. I found the psychological torture and the relationship between these women very effective and genuinely disturbing.
