  Dunno if the gimmick is worth all that much, it feels more like a bottle episode than a standalone movie. Would have liked a lot more prehistoric times, and maybe a forgotten ancient civilisation or three. But throw Zemeckis, Hanks & Wright at a soap opera, and tell me you’re not going to care.

  What a hot flaccid mess. It’s exciting to have big historical, biblical ideas set against an ambitious New Rome production… but what’s set up as a sci-fi fable about the American Empire is executed as a The Bold & The Beautiful arc. No big ideas go anywhere, so it’s a lot of shouting about nothing. Out of all the talent in the cast, only Aubrey seems to realise how ridiculous it is and leans into the scenery chewing. Glad to have seen this white hot clusterfuck for myself, and gladder to never see it again.
