Anora portrays the contradictions of our times with a sense of “not giving a fudge” that feels very on point. It is a film that is compelling, provocative and sometimes straight up fun in its absurd (almost slapstick style) escalations. It tells a story of love where love is missing from the start, hidden behind a cascading lie that makes the victim think that she is feeling something that wasn’t there from the beginning.
