After watching “The Substance” I can confidently say that it deserved all the Golden Globe nominations and buzz it did. As a man, I found the themes of societal expectations on women particularly impactful, offering me a valuable perspective. Given the medium through which these themes are conveyed, body horror appears to be an effective approach to communicate the message thoroughly and effectively.
