  The cemetery scene destroyed me and then that post cemetery lunch scene came up and slit my throat. Marianne Jean-Baptiste is a god and a monster. Best Mike Leigh since Another Year.

  I used to watch this on vhs every night before I fell asleep my senior year of high school. I love the dreamy, detached yet detailed nature of it all. It gave me [S A F E] vibes, which was so rare at the time. Kirsten Dunst’s performance/presence  permeates and radiates with sparkling eye and Trip Fontaine sharpie stained panties. That opening shot of Lux with the popsicle to both keep her cool and contain the flame… 🤌

  This feels like a French man typed “Baz Luhrmann, Pedro Almodovar, Ryan Murphy, Mexican drug cartel, transgender, Mrs. Doubtfire, musical (?)” into an AI service and out came this candy coated sludge that we’re supposed to accept as audacious just because it incoherently juggles genres, but is ultimately style over substance. And I even watched it twice to make sure.
