Baker is the best at showing the lives of people in all their facets. The creativity of driving the story for the perspective of young children was exceptional. Defoe is amazing and shows his humanity and courage in small ways looking out for the tenants in his building. This is a slower film, but it is worth sticking with, I suspect it’s one you will remember.

The Last Showgirl 2024
An interesting film. A bit depressing and painful to watch at times. Pamela Anderson breakdown and difficulty coming to terms with the choices she has made felt authentic. Dave Bautista is the best actor in the movie. To quote a line from another movie. Regret is the most destructive force in the universe. This clearly applies to the Last Showgirl.

The first was an epic movie, this was simply entertainment. A total rehash of the first one minus the gravitas. They could have told a much better story. I think the sea battle would have been better if there was a Kraken instead of sharks. Just one guys opinion.

Killers of the Flower Moon 2023
A self indulgent ego project for Scorsese with his favorite miscast actors. While the story is an important one to tell, he managed to strip it of any soul, arc, or suspense. Editing could not save this movie. DeNiro and Leo were very one dimensional characters. Leo’s torment is silly given his character’s actions. Plemons was a welcome relief when he finally appears in the film and the set design was excellent. Very disappointing! It’s this decades Crash, I guarantee it.
