  This was... OK. Feel like I've seen this movie a thousand times before.

  Duran Duran tackled this subject in their 1997 video for "Electric Barbarella" and that was only 5 min long.

  If this didn't come from an established filmmaker, I'd think this was a calling card, or proof-of-concept film. The way it was hyped I thought that it couldn't possibly be that good... and it's not. It's a great exercise in mood/atmosphere, with a faily weak narrative holding it together. Undermines itself by gettng very silly in the third act.

  This film feels like a longform NPR article about the tribulations of motherhood. Amy Adams and Scoot McNairy make it watchable, but can't make it fulfilling. A much better take on this concept came in 2017 with Marianna Palka's BITCH.

  I've heard the criticisms that this is a silly film without much to say. But what you have to understand is that I do not care. This film is so much fun. Not everything works, but I appreciated the big swings this was taking. Simultaneously highbrow and lowbrow. This film is amazing.

Following
